Science in the Qajar Era: The Third National Conference

The Third National Conference on "Science in the Qajar Era" with a Focus on Chronology, Astronomy, and Scientific Policymaking will be Held
The Institute for the History of Science, University of Tehran – The Institute for the History of Science at the University of Tehran, acting as the secretariat of the Third National Conference on "Science in the Qajar Era," has announced that this scientific event will be held in Bahman 1404 (January-February 2026) with the aim of examining scientific achievements, institution-building, and developments in knowledge during the Qajar period.

This conference, organized by the Institute for the History of Science at the University of Tehran in collaboration with the Institute for the Study of Contemporary Iranian History (IRIP), will focus on the following specialized themes:

• Chronology and Calendar in the Qajar Era

• Astronomy in the Qajar Era

• Key Figures in the Adoption of the Solar Calendar (Hassan Tagizadeh, Gholamhossein Rahnama, etc.)

• Scientific Policymaking and Institutions in the Qajar Era

• Old and New Humanities in the Qajar Era

• Old and New Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics in the Qajar Era

Conference Timeline:

• Deadline for Abstract Submission: 16 Azar 1404 (December 7, 2025)

• Announcement of Abstract Review Results: 15 Dey 1404 (January 5, 2026)

• Conference Dates: 26th and 27th Bahman 1404 (February 15-16, 2026)

Researchers, students, and those interested in the history of science can submit their abstracts until 16 Azar 1404 (December 7, 2025) via the online system on the conference website. Accepted papers, after the peer-review process, will be published in the conference proceedings.
